The engineer’s aesthetic for industrial, downtown living. Raumplan with a view: concrete-caste columns and stained, machine-gouged floors where steel work tables once stood. Looped on this old theme, the topological steel table reflects the double standard implicit in today’s Southland loft district. Raised off the floor like an Escher-style elevation plan, a sheet of plate steel, cut into strips folded and bent into hybrid shapes, provides an ideal prop for both working and dining in the former temples of labor.
